The job isn’t quite over once a tree has been cut down. If a live stump and roots are left in the ground, the tree can grow back. Stumps are also a nuisance for homeowners. They are a pain to constantly mow around, they provide a place for termites and ants to infest, and they prevent the growth of new vegetation or the construction of new yard structures.
If you want a tree completely removed from your property, be sure to get the stump ground out. It is the only way to ensure the tree and the hassle of the tree is gone for good. Many homeowners put off paying for the stump grinding at the time they have a tree removed only to regret it and pay for it to be done years later. When you need a stump ground out, Sam's Services is a great solution.
Before we come out to grind a stump, make sure the stump or stumps are cut as close to ground level as possible. Either a tree removal company or the homeowner can accomplish this with a chainsaw - as long as the bar of the chainsaw is long enough to cut past the midpoint of the stump. Once the stump is at an adequate height, we can begin the process of grinding the stump and root system.
Sam's Services operators use Carlton SP7015 remote operated stump grinders. These powerful machines maneuver extremely well and give the operators a clear view of their surroundings. With these machines and our talented equipment operators, we are able to access nearly every stump and root systems imaginable.
Once we reach the site of the stump, we will grind it and any visible roots until they are six inches below the surface. Grinding down to this depth ensures regrowth will not occur, that there will be no tripping hazards, and that there will be adequate room for fill soil and new plant growth.
If you have a stump that needs to be removed from your yard or property, please don’t hesitate to contact us to schedule a consultation and estimate.
A word to the wise, stump grinding can be dangerous. Anytime you are grinding through hard wood and into the ground, you can guarantee there will be loose debris, like rocks and wood chunks flying through the air. The risk can be mitigated, but it is inevitable. Our team has a great deal of experience doing this work. We wear the proper protective equipment and follow strict safety protocols to ensure we are minimizing the risk to ourselves and the personal property of our customers. Your property will be as safe as possible in our care.
Skid steers - also known as skid loaders - are compact machines with rigid frames and strong wheel bearings used for digging. They are designed to prevent damage from occuring due to the extreme dragging forces exerted on the machine. Their light, compact frame allows them to maneuver in areas and work zones where tractor front loaders cannot.
Skid steers are commonly referred to as Bobcats. Bobcat is an equipment manufacturer that produces skid steers, but they are not the only maker of skid steers. There are many heavy construction equipment companies that produce high quality skid steers.
Sam's Services has employed two skid steers, a Caterpillar 226B and a Case 1840. Both skid steers can be equiped with a grading, digging, and grapple bucket.
Sam's Services also has two brush hogs to use for clearing lots. We have a skid steer brush hog attachment and a tractor mounted brush hog. Both are excellent at cutting overgrown vegetation.
A brush hog is also commonly known as - or referred to as - a bush hog. They are a specific type of rotary mower. They aren't typically single unit machines. They are most commonly sold as an attachment to be used on a farm tractor or to be used on a skid steer, like a Bobcat.
The attachment is pulled behind heavy equipment while it's blade - or blades - spin parallel to the ground. The blades cut through thick vegetation, leaving it free from the land for easy removal. Brush hogs are essential tools when clearing land.
Our dump trucks are used for more than hauling away debris from lot clearing jobs. Sure they are regularly used for hauling away trees, stumps and assorted vegetation, but that's only half the battle. With the ability to haul up to 25,000 pounds of material and a one ton dump capacity they can be used for so much more.
Our dump trucks are routinely used to pick up and drop off loads of materials. One of the most common uses of our dump trucks is the delivery of heavy landscaping materials. We will gladly haul dirt, rocks, or mulch to or from any job site. If you are considering tackling a landscaping project, but are in need of a delivery service, please feel free to give us a call.
Sam's Services will gladly work with you to handle your hauling or delivery needs. Contact us today!
